How do I import my eBay reviews to Shopify?

Connect your eBay account to Reviewsion to bring your eBay seller feedback to Shopify as star reviews, matched to your products and shown on your store.

Install Reviewsion on your Shopify store, connect your eBay account, and approve the connection on eBay. Reviewsion imports the feedback buyers left you as a seller, turns each one into a star review, matches it to a Shopify product, and shows it on your store in Reviewsion blocks. The feedback stays on eBay. Reviewsion shows it on your Shopify store for as long as your eBay account is connected.

Before you start

  • Reviewsion is installed on your Shopify store, on any plan, including the Free plan.

  • In the same browser, you are signed in to eBay as the seller account you want to connect. An eBay Store subscription is not needed.

How feedback becomes a review

Buyers on eBay leave feedback, not product reviews. Reviewsion turns each piece of feedback into a review of the item it was left for.

  • Positive feedback becomes a 5-star review.

  • Neutral feedback becomes a 3-star review.

  • Negative feedback becomes a 1-star review.

  • The buyer's comment becomes the review text. Feedback on eBay has no photos.

  • Automated feedback is left out. When a buyer leaves none, eBay can add "Order delivered on time with no issues" for them. Reviewsion does not import it, so your store shows the feedback buyers wrote. See Why we exclude "Order delivered on time" eBay reviews.

Connect your eBay account

  1. In Reviewsion, open Settings, then the Sources tab. If you are still in Reviewsion's setup steps, the step Bring in the reviews you already have connects your account the same way.

  2. Click Add source.

  3. In Connect a shop, click eBay.

  4. Under Match reviews to your products, keep By SKU and By title checked. By title is what links feedback when your eBay and Shopify SKUs are different. A title matches when it is exactly the same on eBay and Shopify and only one Shopify product uses it.

  5. Click Connect to eBay. The eBay sign-in page opens. Reviewsion connects whichever eBay account is signed in, so check the account name on that page. If you see "The connection was blocked by the browser", open Reviewsion from your Shopify admin and try again.

  6. On eBay, approve the access Reviewsion asks for.

  7. You return to Reviewsion, which shows eBay connected.

Wait for the import

The import starts on its own and reads the feedback eBay has for your account. Allow up to 10 seconds per review. You can close the browser, and the import keeps running. If you have 150 reviews or more, Reviewsion emails you when it finishes.

If your eBay account has no feedback yet, nothing is imported now. New feedback arrives once you set up the steps in "Keep new eBay feedback coming".

Each day, eBay limits how many requests Reviewsion can make. If the limit is reached, the import stops, the feedback imported so far is saved, and Reviewsion emails you the time the limit resets. After that time, continue the import.

  1. Open Settings, then Sources.

  2. On your eBay shop, click Import reviews.

  3. From the list of reviews to import, choose Continue from last run was stopped, then click Import now.

Until then, your eBay shop in Sources shows the time you can continue. If you try before the reset, Reviewsion shows that time too.

Check that it worked

  1. Open Settings, then Sources. Your eBay shop shows Importing now while the import runs, then how many reviews were imported and how many are matched to a product.

  2. Open Reviews. Your eBay reviews carry an EBAY label.

  3. To find reviews with no product, set the Matching filter to Unmatched. Each one says Not yet assigned to a product.

  4. To match one, click Assign one, search for the Shopify product, and select it. To send every review of that eBay listing to the same product, also check Assign to all matching reviews.

  5. Click Assign to Reviews.

Reviewsion remembers the pairing, so future feedback on that listing goes to the same product.

Show the reviews on your store

  1. Turn on the Reviewsion Core app embed in your theme. See How to enable the Reviewsion app embed.

  2. Add Reviewsion blocks to your product pages in the theme editor. See Installing Reviewsion app blocks.

Your eBay reviews then show in those blocks, beside the reviews customers leave on your Shopify store.

Reviewsion shows a label in place of each eBay buyer's name. Change the label in the theme editor, in the Reviewsion block's Anonymous formatting setting.

Keep new eBay feedback coming

New feedback is imported automatically on the Pro plan, including during a Pro trial, once you turn it on. It is off until you do.

  1. Open Settings, then the General tab.

  2. Under Automatically Import New Reviews, check Yes, automatically import new reviews, then save. If the checkbox is greyed out and shows a Pro label, your store is on Standard or the Free plan. Use the steps below instead.

Reviewsion then checks eBay for new feedback every hour while feedback is arriving. When your newest feedback is more than 3 days old, it checks every 3 hours, and when it is more than 30 days old, every 6 hours.

On the Free and Standard plans, import new feedback yourself whenever you want it.

  1. Open Settings, then Sources.

  2. On your eBay shop, click Import reviews.

  3. From the list of reviews to import, choose Only import new reviews, then click Import now.

Good to know

  • Your feedback stays on eBay. Reviewsion shows it on your Shopify store while your eBay account is connected.

  • Only feedback you received as a seller is imported. Feedback you left as a buyer is not.

  • If the connection expires. Your eBay shop shows Disconnected in Sources. The reviews already imported stay. Click Reconnect, then Reconnect to eBay, and approve the access on eBay again to keep importing.

  • Removing the shop deletes its reviews from Reviewsion. Clicking Remove on your eBay shop in Sources deletes every review imported from it. The feedback is still on eBay, and connecting again imports it again.

  • Reviews only. Reviewsion does not import your listings and does not create Shopify products. Each review is matched to a product you already have.

  • Google stars. Imported eBay reviews do not show as stars in Google search results. Google's guidelines do not accept reviews gathered from other websites. Reviews customers leave on your Shopify store can show there.
