How do I import my Etsy reviews to Shopify?

Connect your Etsy shop to Reviewsion to bring your Etsy reviews and their photos to Shopify, matched to your products and shown on your store.

Manual imports are unlimited on every plan. Images are imported on the Free plan; videos are not. Automatic imports need Pro, including during a Pro trial.

Install Reviewsion on your Shopify store, connect your Etsy shop, and approve the connection on Etsy. Reviewsion imports your Etsy reviews with their photos, matches each review to a Shopify product, and shows them on your store in Reviewsion blocks. Your reviews stay on Etsy. Reviewsion shows them on your Shopify store for as long as your Etsy shop is connected.

Before you start

  • Reviewsion is installed on your Shopify store, on any plan, including the Free plan.

  • In the same browser, you are signed in to Etsy as the shop you want to connect.

Connect your Etsy shop

  1. In Reviewsion, open Settings, then the Sources tab. If you are still in Reviewsion's setup steps, the step Bring in the reviews you already have connects your shop the same way.

  2. Click Add source.

  3. In Connect a shop, click Etsy.

  4. Under Match reviews to your products, keep By SKU and By title checked. By title is what links a review when your Etsy and Shopify SKUs are different. A title matches when it is exactly the same on Etsy and Shopify and only one Shopify product uses it.

  5. Click Connect to Etsy. Etsy opens. Reviewsion connects whichever Etsy account is signed in. Etsy's page shows that account. If it is not the one for your shop, click Sign in as someone else. If you see "The connection was blocked by the browser", open Reviewsion from your Shopify admin and try again.

  6. On Etsy, approve the access Reviewsion asks for by clicking Grant access.

  7. Etsy sends you back to Reviewsion, which shows Etsy connected.

Wait for the import

The import starts on its own and reads your whole Etsy review history. Allow up to 10 seconds per review. You can close the browser, and the import keeps running. If your shop has 150 reviews or more, Reviewsion emails you when it finishes.

If your Etsy shop has no reviews yet, nothing is imported now. New reviews arrive once you set up the steps in "Keep new Etsy reviews coming".

If Etsy's daily limit is reached, the import stops and Reviewsion emails you. The limit usually lifts after about 20 hours, and the import does not restart by itself. Once it lifts, finish the import.

  1. Open Settings, then Sources.

  2. On your Etsy shop, click Import reviews.

  3. From the list of reviews to import, choose Continue from last run was stopped, then click Import now.

Check that it worked

  1. Open Settings, then Sources. Your Etsy shop shows Importing now while the import runs, then how many reviews were imported and how many are matched to a product.

  2. Open Reviews. Your Etsy reviews carry an ETSY label.

  3. To find reviews with no product, set the Matching filter to Unmatched. Each one says Not yet assigned to a product.

  4. To match one, click Assign one, search for the Shopify product, and select it. To send every review of that Etsy listing to the same product, also check Assign to all matching reviews.

  5. Click Assign to Reviews.

Reviewsion remembers the pairing, so future reviews of that listing go to the same product.

Show the reviews on your store

  1. Turn on the Reviewsion Core app embed in your theme. See How to enable the Reviewsion app embed.

  2. Add Reviewsion blocks to your product pages in the theme editor. See Installing Reviewsion app blocks.

Your Etsy reviews then show in those blocks with their photos, beside the reviews customers leave on your Shopify store.

Keep new Etsy reviews coming

New Etsy reviews are imported automatically on the Pro plan, including during a Pro trial, once you turn it on. It is off until you do.

  1. Open Settings, then the General tab.

  2. Under Automatically Import New Reviews, check Yes, automatically import new reviews, then save. If the checkbox is greyed out and shows a Pro label, your store is on Standard or the Free plan. Use the steps below instead.

Reviewsion then checks Etsy for new reviews about every 10 minutes.

On the Free and Standard plans, import new reviews yourself whenever you want them.

  1. Open Settings, then Sources.

  2. On your Etsy shop, click Import reviews.

  3. From the list of reviews to import, choose Only import new reviews, then click Import now.

Good to know

  • Your reviews stay on Etsy. Reviewsion shows them on your Shopify store while your Etsy shop is connected.

  • If the connection expires. Your Etsy shop shows Disconnected in Sources. The reviews already imported stay. Click Reconnect, then Reconnect to Etsy, and approve the access on Etsy again to keep importing.

  • Removing the shop deletes its reviews from Reviewsion. Clicking Remove on your Etsy shop in Sources deletes every review imported from it. They are still on Etsy, and connecting the shop again imports them again.

  • Reviews only. Reviewsion does not import your listings and does not create Shopify products. Each review is matched to a product you already have.

  • Google stars. Imported Etsy reviews do not show as stars in Google search results. Google's guidelines do not accept reviews gathered from other websites. Reviews customers leave on your Shopify store can show there.
