Why Isn't My App Block Showing Up on My Live Store?

Troubleshoot why Reviewsion app blocks aren’t appearing on your live Shopify store, covering common causes and step-by-step fixes.

Updated this week

If your Reviewsion block isn’t appearing on your live Shopify store, there are a few common reasons why this might be happening. Below, we’ll walk you through each of the possibilities and how to check or resolve them.

1. The app embed is turned off

Reviewsion blocks rely on the app embed being enabled in your Shopify theme settings. If this is disabled, none of the app blocks will be able to render on the live site.

How to fix it:

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  • Click Customize on your current theme.

  • In the theme editor, click App embeds (usually found on the left panel).

  • Make sure Reviewsion is toggled ON.

  • Save your changes.

💡 If the app embed is off, you’ll see a notification in the theme editor letting you know why the block isn’t appearing.

2. You’re using the Product Summary block, but you're not on the Pro plan

The Product Summary block is only available to shops on the Pro plan. During the 14-day free trial, this block is available to all users. However, once the trial ends, you’ll need to upgrade to continue using it.

How to check your plan:

  • Open the Reviewsion app in your Shopify admin.

  • Navigate to the Billing or Plan section to confirm your current plan.

💡 If your plan doesn’t include the Product Summary block, you’ll see a message in the theme editor explaining this.

3. You don’t have any reviews yet

All Reviewsion blocks rely on having reviews to display. If your shop doesn’t have any imported reviews yet, certain blocks will appear empty.

This can happen if:

  • You haven’t connected any of your import sources yet.

  • Your reviews from Amazon, eBay, or Etsy haven’t imported.

  • You’re a brand new seller without any historical reviews.

How to check:

  • Open the Reviewsion app and go to the Reviews dashboard.

  • Visit the Sources tab to make sure your Amazon, eBay, or Etsy accounts are connected and syncing.

  • Check the Activity or Sync status to confirm reviews are being pulled in.

💡 If there are no reviews to show, the block will tell you this in the theme editor.

4. The block doesn’t have reviews for the selected source

Each block in Reviewsion can pull reviews either from a specific product or from your shop. If the selected source doesn’t have any reviews, the block will appear empty.

For example:

  • If the block is added to a product page and defaults to that product, it will only show reviews tied to that product.

  • If the block is set to use the shop as its source, it will display shop-level reviews only.

How to check the source:

  • In the theme editor, click the block and check the "Source" setting.

  • You can switch between using the current product or selecting a specific product or the shop.

💡 Blocks will only display if the selected source (product or shop) has reviews.

5. You're using the Media Carousel block, but none of your reviews include media

The Media Carousel block only displays reviews that include images or videos. If none of your imported reviews contain media, this block will appear empty.

Why this might happen:

  • None of the reviews pulled from Amazon, eBay, or Etsy included photos or videos.

  • Your customers haven’t submitted media reviews yet on those platforms.

📌 Media must exist on the original review source. Reviewsion displays exactly what’s imported and does not allow manual media uploads.

💡 If no media is available, the Media Carousel block will notify you directly in the theme editor.

Which blocks display reviews automatically?

All Reviewsion blocks rely on your imported reviews to display content. Here's how each type of block behaves:

  • Compact Reviews, Reviews Carousel, Testimonials Carousel, Product Summary, and Media Carousel: These automatically fill with reviews based on your product or shop if you haven’t assigned specific ones.

  • All Reviews (Filtered and Grid versions): These include all reviews by default and don’t require any manual assignment.

  • Star Rating Badge and Showcase: These don’t display individual reviews, but will still appear as long as your store has reviews.

💡 You don’t need to manually assign reviews for most blocks. If your shop has imported reviews, they will show up automatically unless filters, source settings, or layout options prevent them from appearing.

Summary

When a block isn’t showing up on your live store, open the Shopify theme editor to look for any system messages or warnings. Reviewsion provides clear notifications in the editor for issues like missing reviews, plan limitations, or app embed settings—so you’ll always know what’s going on.

If you’ve checked all of the above and still don’t see your block, feel free to reach out to our support team for help.
