When using the Shopify theme editor to configure Reviewsion widgets, you may sometimes notice placeholder or dummy reviews appearing instead of your real customer reviews.
Why Dummy Content Appears
Reviewsion uses dummy content in the theme editor to ensure you have something to work with, even if your store doesn't yet have real review data available. This is especially useful if:
You are a brand-new store without any customer reviews yet.
You haven’t imported your reviews from platforms like Amazon, Etsy, or eBay.
Identifying Dummy Content
If you see the following badge displayed on your Reviewsion block:
It means the content you're seeing is dummy data provided for setup and preview purposes only.
🚨 Important: Dummy content will never appear in your live store. It is strictly limited to the Shopify theme editor preview.
Replacing Dummy Data with Real Reviews
Once your store or specific product has real customer review data available, Reviewsion automatically replaces any dummy content with your actual reviews.*
📝 Note: The only exception to this behavior is the Star Rating Badge. If no real reviews exist for a product or your shop, it will show zero reviews both in the theme editor and on your live store.
